DIY thread bobbin and yarn holder
For knitters or crafters, little tools can be very convenient but sometimes hard to find or expensive to buy. Here are 2 creations you can try easily at home with what you have around the house.
1. Cup holder thread bobbin
The cardboard cupholder from the coffee shop can be handy to make a thread holder or small spool yarn holder. It is good size and sturdiness for this purpose.
How to:
Just cut 2 triangles in the middle of both sides, and cut 2 slits in the middle of the other 2 sides. Done.
It is useful to wind up the ravel cord if you machine knit, or make several bobbins of yarns in the different colors when knitting colorwork. The slit prevents the thread or yarn roll all over the floor.
2. Cardboard box yarn holder
Wheather you hand knit or machine knit, this is a neat device that keeps your yarn unroll evenly in one spot when you knit.
How to:
Cut a rectangle cardboard of the size that fits your yarn. I have about 8 x 4 inches. Roll into a tube and wind your yarn to the tube in an old-fashioned way or wind it on a Yarn winder. You can also use a empty paper towel tube.
Find a box a little bigger than your winded yarn, and cut holes on each side. Place a small rod (curtain rod, or any metal/ plastic rod you can find) in the holes and through the center of yarn you just winded up. Done.
Now just pull out the yarn as needed. Nothing gets tangled or rolls around.
Hope you enjoy the knitter's life hack DIY.
