Many Chinese people, especially the older generation, like to check the “Yellow calendar” or the lunar Feng Shui calendar for the important events such as traveling, wedding, signing big contract, or unimportant events such as getting haircut or seeing a doctor.
In the traditional calendar, it shows the daily auspicious and inauspicous events, directions, animal signs, hours, directions and so on. It is now easy to find these information on a phone app. There are a lot of Feng Shui lunar calendar apps on the Google or Apple app store. Many are free or with minimal fee.
Here are 3 apps I think works well with English speaking countries:
1. Tung Shing (Lunar calendar):You can change the language between Chinese and English. It also has the basic info for the daily lucky direction, hour, clashing animal sign, and good/bad day for certain events.
2. Chinese calendar: You can pick a event (wedding, for example) in a certain month and year, and find out the best day for the event in that month. It can filter for you better.
3. Lunar Reminder: You can set up reminder for specific date or recurring dates and it will show up on your phone or device to remind you. For example, many Chinese people go vegetarian and give god offering on the 1st and the 15th of every lunar month. You can set it up so it shows messages before the day.
