Important dates to prepare for the 2023 lunar new year

Important dates to prepare for the 2023 lunar new year (year of the Rabbit)

The lunar new year or the Chinese new year is an important date for a new start. Traditionally, there are a few important dates for certain activities, including removing old Tai Sui altars, setting up a new one if needed, setting up new Feng Shui cures for the year, the right time to open a business after the new year holidays, the best dates to visit temple and pray, and the best time for a deep house cleaning.

  1. House cleaning before the lunar New Year's Day (January 22, 2023)

The end of the year is the best time to do a deep house cleaning, declutter, and organization. It is a good time to mindfully look at what is surrounding you, what do you really need, and what should be discarded or donated. We change and evolve, so it is important to set up our living space to reflect our current priorities. Make room for new projects to happen and say goodbye to outdated belongings.

2. Best time to remove last year’s Tai Sui altar and set up a new one

Tai Sui or the yearly god is a strong power that can affect the animal sign of the year and the animal sign across from that sign. In the 2023 year of the Rabbit, the affected zodiac signs are Rabbit and Rooster. If your animal sign is a Rabbit or Rooster, you can set up a Tai Sui altar to pray for a peaceful year.

The best date to take down the previous year’s Tai Sui is on the lunar December 24th or January 15, 2023.

You can set up a new Tai Sui altar anytime, but it is usually done from mid-lunar December until mid-lunar January. The lunar January 15, 2023, is February 05, 2023, on the western calendar. It is best to set up the Tai Sui altar before that. This includes setting up a Tai Sui altar at home or having the Tai Sui ceremony at the temple.

3. Lunar New Year's Eve and New Year's Day

The lunar New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day are January 21 and 22, 2023. These 2 days are the best for meditation, goal-setting, visiting temples, and setting up a money altar or enhancer.

For the first few days of the lunar new year, it is important to bring good energy. Make sure your pantry is full, your clothing is bright, your home is clean, and all words spoken are positive. It is to ensure our new year starts with happiness and abundance.

4. The best dates to re-open for business after lunar new year

Here are the traditionally lucky dates to open the door for business after the new year holidays. These are also lucky dates to set up a money altar for any money enhancers.

In the western calendar, it includes January 26, 27, 29, and February 1st, 2nd, and 5th.

Use these dates as references to fit your schedule and your business.
