The Lion and Dragon in Feng Shui application

Both Lion and dragon are traditional Chinese legendary animals. They are fierce and strong. It is believed that they have the power to protect us from negative energy and evil spirit.

Functions of the Lion

The Lions are often placed around windows or the front door and facing any “Sha Qi” outside the house. For example, if there is a road pointing straight to the front door, a sharp object pointing to the house, or “Yin” Types houses nearby such as a temple, church, cemetery, Jail and so on. The lion can protect us from the negative influence around the house.

Lions are often placed in pairs. In front of many temples, there are usually a male and a female stone lion. A big pair of stone lions is more suitable for big business buildings or government offices. It might be overkilling for regular residence.

Functions of the Dragon

Similar to the lion, a dragon has the power of protection from the evil spirit and negative Qi. Dragons also like water and can bring money luck. We can place a pair of the dragon by the window facing nearby water (river, ocean, swimming pool) or place near an indoor aquarium for money luck. Wealth corner or sector of the house is also good for displaying dragons.

Dragon is also a symbol of success and high ranking so we can place it on the office desk for career luck and helpful people luck (Gui Ren luck).

In Feng Shui, the left side is the dragon and the energy of Yang, while the right side is the white tiger and the energy of Yin. So a dragon can be a powerful tool to raise the Yang energy of the house. For example, if the house is too big or there are not enough people living there, it can use the help of the dragon to raise the Yang Qi. If there is too many female and not enough male in a house, a dragon sculpture or picture can raise the Yang and balanced out the Yin.
